What is Chat GPT?

ChatGPT is a form of [generative AI] that specializes in creating human-like text, dialogue, code, or even translations. Created by AI developer OpenAI, ChatGPT is trained to generate original content based on what it’s learned. It can answer follow-up questions, debug code, explore hypothetical scenarios, write letters or essays, and even summarize entire conversations.

The most recent model of ChatGPT uses Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). Human AI trainers provided conversations in which they played both sides, the user and the AI. The trainers were also given model-written suggestions to help them compose responses, essentially fine-tuning ChatGPT’s responses with human input to help it learn.

While the rise in chatbot technology is exciting, there is always the risk of someone abusing this technology. As chatbots become more ‘human’ in their approach and tone, it can become harder to distinguish who’s really behind the screen. When a message or inquiry sounds human, we’re more likely to trust it, which can lead to clicking on spam links, surrendering secure information, or trusting harmful files.
