The CAI was launched in 2019 by Adobe, the New York Times, and Twitter, and has since grown to include other industry partners, such as Truepic, Google, and Microsoft. Their efforts are unified by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) and are fully compliant with the technical specifications released in 2022 by the C2PA.
