GLOSSARYGenerative AI

Generative AI is a category of Artificial Intelligence that generates new digital images, video, audio, text, or code by using either unsupervised or semi-supervised machine learning algorithms.

What is Generative AI?

Generative AI is a category of Artificial Intelligence that generates new digital images, video, audio, text, or code by using either unsupervised or semi-supervised machine learning algorithms. By ingesting large datasets, generative AI can then learn to use the inputted data as reference and create new, seemingly original outputs as a result.

There are several different approaches to generative AI, each with its own strengths and limitations. Common techniques include Generative adversarial networks (GANs), Variational autoencoders (VAEs), and Transformer models.

Generative AI has a wide range of potential applications, including generating realistic images, creating personalized content, and generating music and other types of media. It also has the potential to significantly improve natural language processing (NLP) and machine translation tasks by generating high-quality training data.

It’s important to note that generative AI technology can be abused in the wrong hands, leading to increased incidences of fraud, social engineering attacks, or identity theft. It’s important to be aware of the potential risks and to use these tools responsibly.
